Hello Families!
As winter continues, we remind all students to dress appropriately for the cold weather. Please ensure your children come to school with warm coats, hats, gloves, and boots to stay comfortable and safe during outdoor activities. We also have many items in the OP Den that can supplement your winter clothing options if needed. We have several exciting events coming up in 2025. On January 15, Orillia Secondary School will host a Grade 8 Orientation Night, providing an informative evening for students and parents about transitioning to high school. More details on the event will be out in the new year. On January 31, we are thrilled to welcome the Earth Rangers for a presentation on wildlife conservation and exploration of animals and their habitats, with a special guest, Minister of Education Jill Dunlop, attending. We are excited to share with her all the wonderful things happening here at the OP. Looking ahead, mark your calendars for Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day on March 4, a delightful way to start the day with our Grade 8 students providing pancakes for the school community. Our annual Spring Concert will take place on April 15th, showcasing our talented students and all the work they have put in with Mr. Gibbs and his music classes. The Orchard Park Players will present their first-ever performance, “What Happened After Once Upon a Time?” on May 12th and 13th, promising an enchanting show of acting and theatre. We can’t wait! Additionally, our Grade 3 students will participate in the Swim to Survive program in May, learning essential water safety skills and having fun. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting news in the next Orchard Park newsletter.
Together, let’s make 2025 a year of growth, learning, kindness and unforgettable memories!
Claws out Panthers.

National Sweater Day - Thursday, February 6th
Our school will be taking part in National Sweater Day on Thursday, February 6th.
National Sweater Day is an annual event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Canada. On National Sweater Day, WWF asks Canadians from coast to coast to turn down thermostats by two degrees Celsius at home, at school, and at work to highlight the role that energy conservation plays in preventing climate change.
We invite you to join us from home by turning down your thermostat and putting on your favourite sweater!
Through participation, we hope to understand how everyday actions affect our planet’s future.
We are looking forward to a cozy day of learning!
